For years, headlines about Texas housing have focused on its growth. This week, an Austin real estate agent is drawing attention for a service aimed at those going the other direction.

Lilly Rockwell, a Compass agent, has launched “Texit,” a relocation program that helps Texans move out of state with unusual levels of support.

The service covers everything from preparing and selling a property to connecting clients with agents in their new communities.

Through Compass Concierge, clients can access up to $25,000 in advance for repairs, staging and moving expenses, repaid at closing.

Rockwell has also pledged to cut her listing fee by $2,000 for participants.

“This isn’t about politics,” Rockwell said in an interview.

“Texit is about making what is often a stressful life event more manageable, more compassionate, and more human.”

Migration out of Texas has accelerated in recent years, driven by climate concerns, shifting job markets and lifestyle choices.

Rockwell says many of her clients are headed to Colorado, Oregon, Pennsylvania and Washington.

The initiative reflects a broader trend of agents adapting their businesses to social and demographic realities.

In an industry often defined by sales volume and competition, Texit underscores how customer-focused programs can shape reputation as much as transactions.
